History: The Raymur Bridge has a great historic value. The bridge was built due to mothers protesting.Kids back then had to attend school by crossing the train tracks, but due to the bad train schedule it was dangerous for them. Eventually the mothers had enough and decided they wanted a change, so they tried to communicate with City Hall and the company, but did not receive any responses. This led to them protesting for their kids safety by standing in front of the train. The protest eventually was taken to court, but the mothers won. The kids and mothers were finally able to have the Raymur Bridge built by taking action.
Community: This place has lots of cultural and aestetic values. The bridge is very iconic to the community and to the people. The design of the bridge is very unique in many ways, from it's colour to the way it was built. The Raymur Bridge also seems to be almost a landmark for the Raycam area especially to kids using crossing over it. Without the bridge in the community Raycam would not be the same
Effects To Community: The bridge would not have exist today if the mothers did not stand up for their kid's safety. They all wanted to make a change by taking action. This shows us the history back then which we can study now today. The actions of the mothers has positive effects today. Kids who know the history of the bridge can change the way they achieve their goals in life. Which is why the Raymur Bridge is to honour the mothers of their goals to make the community safe for everyone.
Connections/Personal opinion: I have alot of connections with this place when i was a kid. Whenever there was a train crossing by i would always love to cross that bridge; however, today i think the bridge has been irrelevant. Taking the Raymur bridge to Britannia secondary schools just makes the way to school longer. Due to students growing up and going to highschool makes the bridge not as a viable option anymore.
